Merran Findlay
Merran Findlay, MSc (Nutr & Diet), BSc (Nutr), Grad Cert (Paed Nutr & Diet), AdvAPD, is the Executive Research Lead-Cancer Nutrition and Oncology Specialist Dietitian across the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital-Chris O’Brien Lifehouse partnership. An Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian, she was awarded a prestigious National Health and Medical Research Council Translating Research into Practice Fellowship in 2015 and was subsequently awarded the Sydney Research PhD Scholarship. Specialising in clinical nutrition support of people with cancer for nearly 20 years, Merran has also led knowledge synthesis, dissemination and implementation projects in her field, and to date, has been successful in more than $1.1M in competitive funding. Her research interests include the impact of nutritional status and nutrition intervention on clinical, cost and patient-centred outcomes, innovative models of care and use of information technology to support translation of research evidence into practice. As Adjunct Senior Lecturer, Merran actively contributes to the cancer nutrition teaching program at the University of Sydney and currently serves on the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia Nutrition Group Executive. In 2019 Merran was awarded the Dietitians Association of Australia Outstanding Contribution Award in recognition of her leadership in cancer nutrition.
